  • Sharpens analytical skills as Shakespearean works contain many literary devices such as metaphors, similes, puns and soliloquy
  • Explores an exciting mixture of language within the play
  • Introduces elements of Shakespearean works
    • A pastoral setting, sometimes imbued with magical elements (e.g., the fairies in A Midsummer Night’s Dream)
    • Disguise (sometimes across gender) and mistaken identity leading to great complication
    • Parallel plots involving high (aristocratic) and low (servant) characters, or an inversion of the usual power dynamic between classes
    • The eventual reunion of long-separated family members
    • A conclusion involving at least one pledge of marriage
  • Learn various techniques used in improvisational theatre
  • Exposes youths to a number of classic shakespeare plays in just under 2 hours
  • Audience members will be able to connect with the pop culture allusion mentioned within the play
    • some of the jokes and references, making it a little more contemporary, referencing television shows, recent technology
  • Audience will be able to understand the difference between an adaptation and an abridgement
